Certified Barre Instructor Kristen Samson is excited to share her knowledge and training through Barre classes at the new Body Barre Fitness.

Young Children’s Dance Program

Ages 18 months – 7 years old

 

Together – Is a dance class for children ages 18 months – 2 ½ years old.  Parents assist their children in the classroom.  We work to develop locomotor skills, musicality, basic ballet positions, and terminology in a fun, creative, environment. 

Ballet 1 –  Ages 2 ½ - 3 ½ years old.  The ballet students work on locomotor skills, musicality, special awareness, basic ballet positions, port de bras and terminology in a fun creative way.  This is a fundamental class in a child’s beginning development of ballet technique.

Ballet 2 – Ages 4 – 6 years old.  The students work on ballet technique at the barre.  They learn how to put together full combinations of technique to music.  We continue to work on travelling, spacial awareness, ballet placement and terminology.  Ballet 2 is a foundation class for ballet technique. 

Ballet 3 – Ages 7 – up.  Students are working on a full ballet technique class with the focus on building their understanding of ballet placement, terminology, and special awareness.  Ballet 3 is a fundamental class for students who are interested in continuing with their study in classical ballet technique. 

 

 

Pre-professional Division Ages 8 – up

 

Ballet 4 – 6 – Pre-professional Ballet Technique, Pointe, Variation and Pas de Deux Classes for the more serious ballet student. 

 

Jazz – Focus is on learning jazz technique.  The styles of jazz will be drawn from several different dance genera’s, including classical jazz, theater jazz, lyrical jazz and street jazz.  Come and join the fun in this high energy, fast paced class. 

Tap – Focus is on learning tap technique and skills.  The students will focus on the clarity of tap sounds, rhythm and execution with their technique. Percussive tap and rhythm tap is taught at the higher levels. 

Contemporary/Lyrical – This is an expressive form of dance.  The use of floor work, turns, lifts and flexibility is taught and worked on.  Students learn how to apply their technique to their dancing through expressive movement.  This is a fun, challenging class for students who have a strong dance base.
