Annual Nutcracker Performances 2025
The Story:
Act I: The Party and the Battle
Christmas Eve Party: The story begins at a festive Christmas Eve party hosted by the Stahlbaum family. Clara and her brother Fritz welcome guests and receive gifts. Clara's mysterious godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer, gives her a special gift: a wooden nutcracker.
The Nutcracker is Broken: Clara instantly loves her new toy, but her jealous brother Fritz breaks it. A heartbroken Clara watches as Drosselmeyer quickly repairs the Nutcracker by tying a handkerchief.
Midnight Battle: Later that night, Clara sneaks back to check on her nutcracker. As the clock strikes midnight, a magical transformation occurs: the Christmas tree grows to an enormous height, and life-sized mice, come to life.
Clara's Rescue: The Nutcracker comes to life and leads an army of toy soldiers in a battle against the mice. When the Mouse King is about to defeat the Nutcracker, Clara throws her slipper at the King, distracting him and allowing the Nutcracker to strike the winning blow.
Act II: A Magical Journey
Transformation and Journey: After the battle, the spell is broken, and the Nutcracker transforms into a handsome Prince. In gratitude for saving him, he takes Clara on an enchanting journey.
The Land of Snow: They first travel through an enchanted, snow-covered forest (the Land of Snow), where they are welcomed by dancing snowflakes and the Snow Queen and King.
The Land of Sweets: The Prince and Clara then travel to the Kingdom of Sweets, a magical land ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Prince recounts their heroic battle with the Mouse King, and in their honor, the Sugar Plum Fairy hosts a grand celebration.
Dances and Farewell: Clara is entertained with a dazzling array of dances representing various "sweets" from different lands, including Spanish Chocolate, Arabian Coffee, Chinese Tea, and "Waltz of the Flowers".
Waking Up: The magic night swirls around Clara, and she suddenly wakes up back in her own bed on Christmas morning, holding her mended nutcracker, wondering if the incredible adventure was all a dream.
